Frequently Asked Questions

General survey queries:

What is my ID number (I have forgotten it)?

Your ID number is a 10 digit number issued to you at the time you registered. You can use the ‘Forgot my ID’ function on the ID submission page. Simply enter the email address used to register and an automated email will be sent with your ID. Note that if you are not a member your email address will not be recognised on our records.
If you are a registered ORU panel memeber click here to retreive your ID number.

What do I do if my survey link doesn’t work?

– Try closing the survey and clicking once on the survey link to try again.
– Or cut and copy the survey link text and paste it into the address bar of your web browser.
– Or reply to the survey invitation and tell us what happened when you tried to access the survey. Include the survey link and your ID number in your response to help us assist you.

I don’t have time to do the survey now can I attempt it later?

If you don’t have time to complete a survey you can attempt the survey again later by clicking once on the survey link. Note that each survey has a different close date. Check the invitation email for the indicated date to finish the survey by.

Can I finish the survey if I have done part of it already?

In most cases you will be able to resume the survey from the last question you were up to. Simply click once on the survey link to access the survey to finish it off.

I am going away can you hold all surveys until I come back?

Unfortunately we cannot select who we send the surveys to as our processes are randomised. If you do not wish to receive any emails from The ORU you can unsubscribe and email us again at a later date to register again. Alternatively you can ignore or delete any email invitations you cannot partake in until you wish to resume panel activity.

How do I unsubscribe from receiving ORU survey invitations?

If you do not wish to take part in this and any future surveys from The ORU, please send an email to support@theoru.com.au or reply to the latest survey invitation email with the word ‘unsubscribe’ in the subject heading. You can also call us on 1300-136-046 during business hours or leave a phone message out of business hours. (Please include your email address and ID in your response.)

Why did I receive a Code 1 Error message after submitting my ID number?

This means that your ID number has already been submitted for the survey. You will receive this ‘Code 1 Error’ message if you have clicked more than once on the submit button when entering your ID at the end of the survey or have attempted to complete the survey twice. Please note that you can only be rewarded with entries into the prize draw once for each survey. To ensure you don’t receive this message click once on the submit button when entering your ID. Feel free to contact us to check that you have received the correct amount of entries. Email support@theoru.com.au.

Does The ORU donate to any charities on my behalf?

Yes, The ORU’s chosen charity is The Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia (CCI). As a way of thanking our panel members for their ongoing support a donation of $1,000 will be made to the CCI. To view a copy of a previous donation please click here and here.

Panel members who are lucky prize winners also have the option of donating their prize winnings to a charity of their choice.

Gift Cards and Prizes:

Do you have my postal address details?

If The ORU needs to send you anything by mail we will contact you requesting you chosen postal address. These details are only used for the purpose of sending you a gift card or a prize if you qualify.

When are gift cards and prizes mailed out?

When the survey is finished and has been processed we will send and email to those who have completed the survey, asking for their chosen postal address. In the interest of privacy, we do not keep a permanent record of your current address details and will contact you to add or confirm your postal details before a prize / gift card is mailed out.

How do I check if I have won a prize?

We currently publish the results of our monthly prize draws in two places. Firstly, the results are published in the classifieds/announcements section of The Australian Newspaper. Secondly, the prize winners are listed on our current website. Please note that we notify all prize winners by email soon after each draw. To view The Online Prize Draw winners click here.

How do I check my recent prize draw entries?

You can check how many prize draw entries you have in any given month by visiting the ORU ‘Your Monthly Entries’ page, and entering your ID number. Here is a link to the Your Monthly Entries page.
